Michael Wiesmüller, a trained philosopher, joined the Federal Ministry in late nineties and is currently Head of Department for Key enabling Technologies for Industrial Innovation. Core tasks of the department include the design of technology and research funding programs for the high-tech sector, the development of corresponding national R&D strategies and programs, and representative functions in international bodies. This also includes funding programs for applied AI research, facilitating the growth of the Austria AI ecosystem, international and European collaboration and the development of strategies in the field of AI.
