About the Event

The Austrian computer scientist Georg Gottlob is an award-winning researcher who has received important awards such as the Wittgenstein Prize for his pioneering contributions to database theory and complexity theory. For the second Zemanek Lecture he chose the subject of Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Ignorance. Georg Gottlob currently teaches and researches at the University of Oxford and is currently working on algorithms and complexity problems related to graphs and hypergraphs, database query languages ​​and problem decomposition methods.

About the Zemanek Lecture

On January 1, 2020, the computer pioneer and founding father of the Austrian Computer Society (OCG), Heinz Zemanek, would have been 100 years old. The OCG took this as an opportunity to memorialize Heinz Zemanek with a series of lectures. The focus is on the research areas of Zemanek’s work, such as programming languages, computer architecture and digital humanities.
