Marcel Broersma is professor and director of the Centre for Media and Journalism Studies at the University of Groningen and one of the national coordinators of the Dutch Digital Society research programme. His research focuses on digital literacy and inclusion, changing patterns of media use, and the digital transformation of journalism. Broersma is the founding chair of the Digital Literacy Coalition (www.digital-literacy.nl), a consortium of 20 research and knowledge institutions, governments, civil society organisations and companies that collaborates to foster digital literacy. He is the recipient of various prestigious research grants and has published widely, including Rethinking Journalism Again. Societal Role and Relevance in a Digital Age (2017; ed. with Chris Peters).
